How the score works

The checker is transparent by design. Each answer carries a weight reflecting how strongly it correlates with real China-sourcing fraud or quality risk. The weights are summed and capped at 100, then banded:

The heaviest signals are payment to a personal account, refusing any factory visit or video, and a price far below market — the three threads that run through most sourcing scams. A high score is a prompt to slow down and verify, not proof of fraud; a low score means fewer flags, not a guarantee.

FAQ

How is the supplier risk score calculated?
Each answer carries a weight based on how strongly it correlates with sourcing fraud or quality risk — for example, payment to a personal account or refusing any factory visit. The weights are summed, capped at 100, and banded into Low, Medium or High.
Is the Supplier Risk Checker free and private?
Yes. It is free and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to a server or stored.
Does a low score mean a supplier is safe?
No. A low score means fewer common red flags, not a guarantee. Always confirm the business license, sample the product and, for larger orders, use a third-party inspection.
What is the single biggest supplier red flag?
A request to pay a personal account or in crypto — it removes traceability and buyer recourse, and is the most common thread in China sourcing scams.
